Celebrating Scotland’s World Cup Return – And A New Phone Case to Mark the Moment
There are moments in life when football creates magic- and Scotland finally qualifying for the 2026 World Cup is one of those moments. For a guy like me, who has watched Scotland on TV in no less than five World Cups (starting way back in 1978), this feels massive. I’m talking goosebumps-on-the-arms, “where were you when we qualified?” kind of huge.

What blows my mind is that the younger generation haven’t seen Scotland in any World Cup. None. Zilch. Nothing since 1998. That’s crazy when you think about it. My nephew and his mates have never experienced the glitz and the glamour. A whole generation has grown up with YouTube clips of Archie Gemmill and “We’ll Be Coming” chants without ever feeling that proper tournament buzz in real time. But now? Oh, they’re about to find out.
For me, Scotland at the World Cup has always been something I’ve lived through at a distance - the kind of thing you watch on the telly with the curtains shut and the snacks lined up like soldiers. I’ve never managed to attend a World Cup in person, and my closest brush with that atmosphere came in 1998. Although to be fair… it wasn’t exactly a highlight reel.
I watched the ‘98 World Cup in Oslo, of all places, and I had to endure the heartbreak of watching Norway go through at our expense. I’ll never forget that night. Brazil — who were supposed to do us a favour - completely bottled it. Norway beat them, the place went absolutely mental, and there I was, Scotland shirt on, trying to stay invisible while the entire city poured into Karl Johanns gate celebrating like they’d won the whole tournament. Not that it mattered. Scotland were pumped 3-0 by Morocco I think and that was that. I’d been watching in the Tempest bar in Aker Brygge, and after the final whistle, I just walked home. No taxis, no buses. Just me, my saltire-blue misery and a sea of delighted Noggies chanting like madmen. Brutal.
Fast-forward to today, and things finally feel different - hopeful even. The Tartan Army has a real reason to march again. And with all this emotion swirling around, I couldn’t help myself… I had to design something special to mark the occasion.
So, yes - I’ve created a couple of new Scotland-themed tough phone cases to celebrate our return to the world’s biggest stage. One features the iconic Saltire with the line “No Scotland. No Party.” which couldn’t be more spot-on right now. The other is wrapped in proud Highland tartan with the classic “We Are Coming Down The Road” chant. Honestly, both designs feel like little souvenirs of a moment we’ve waited far too long for.
Are they just phone cases? Technically yes. But for me, they’re a way to carry this moment around in my hand every day - a reminder of where we’ve been, what we’ve endured, and how sweet it feels to finally be back where we belong.
If you’re buzzing for 2026 like I am, you might just fancy one yourself.
Because after all… No Scotland, No Party.
